Terms of Service
Terms of Service
The short version: HonestSiteAudit flags marketing patterns worth a second look and suggests more honest wording. It is not legal advice and it never tells you a site is "compliant." By using it, you agree to the terms below.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
1. What HonestSiteAudit is — and is not
HonestSiteAudit is a software tool that flags marketing claims and patterns that regulators such as the FTC and state attorneys general commonly scrutinize, and suggests more honest wording. It reports patterns to review. It does not determine that anything is illegal, and it does not certify that a site is "compliant," "safe," or in the clear. It is not legal advice (see §6).
2. License grant
Subject to these Terms and your plan, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the HonestSiteAudit extension. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service except as expressly permitted by your plan.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service to scan or test sites you do not own or are not authorized to review; use it to break, overload, or circumvent the security of any system; resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service except as your plan allows; reverse-engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law; or misrepresent a sealed record, alter it, or present it as something it is not. Sealed records are intended to reflect what the Service observed at a point in time.
4. Free and paid plans
The free plan includes the local, mechanical scan of a page. Paid plans add optional features:
- Pro — $29/month, or a one-time $39 30-day pass. Adds AI-suggested honest rewrites, scheduled re-checks, and tamper-evident (independently anchored) sealed records.
- Team — $99/month for 5 seats, or $199/month for 15 seats. One license shared across your seats.
Some features (AI review, AI rewrites, reading text in images) require your own Anthropic API key and are billed to you by Anthropic, not by us. You are responsible for your own AI usage and its cost.
5. Billing, renewals and refunds
Recurring paid plans bill in advance on a monthly cycle and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel from the billing portal, which you open from inside the extension; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. The 30-day pass is a one-time charge that does not auto-renew and expires after 30 days. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, email cliff@locustware.com and we will review it.
6. No legal advice
HonestSiteAudit is a software tool, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. A flag marks a marketing pattern with a real enforcement history that is worth reviewing — it is not a finding that a page violates any law, and it is not a defense to any claim. A sealed record is evidence about a page's state at a point in time; it is not a guarantee of legal compliance. Consult qualified counsel about your obligations.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the rule set catches every issue, that any flag is accurate for your situation, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including §§6–8) will survive.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Midland County, Texas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
